Clear Penny Sleeves — 100 per pack

The sleeve a card goes into before anything else. Straight out of the pack, out of a binder, or on its way to grading — a penny sleeve is the cheapest thing standing between a card and a fingerprint.

Size

66 × 91 mm (2.60 × 3.58 inch), which takes a standard trading card: Pokémon, Lorcana, One Piece, Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh, Gundam, Riftbound and standard sports cards. Cards go in and come out freely — no forcing a corner, which is how corners get dinged in the first place.

What they are like

• Genuinely clear. You can read the card through the sleeve, so a binder page stays browsable and a photograph still shows the card rather than a haze.
• Soft, not brittle. They flex rather than split, which matters on the hundredth sleeve of an evening.
• Clean, smooth edges. No burrs to catch a corner on the way in.
• Acid-free and archival-safe, so a card can sit in one for years without the sleeve doing the damage it was meant to prevent.

What they are for

Penny sleeves are step one, not the whole job. A card in a penny sleeve is protected from fingerprints, dust and light scuffing. For anything you actually care about, the sleeve goes inside something rigid:

• Before grading. Every grader wants a card sleeved before it is packed. Sleeve it, then into a semi-rigid or a toploader, then into the submission.
• Before a toploader or binder. A raw card sliding in and out of a rigid holder unsleeved picks up edge wear from the holder itself.
• Bulk sorting. At a penny or two each, you can sleeve everything that might one day be worth something and decide later.
