Magnetic Card Holders

A magnetic card holder — often called a one-touch — is what a raw card goes into when you want it rigid, visible and easy to get back out. No screws and no screwdriver: the two halves close on a recessed magnet, so a card is in or out in seconds and there is nothing to overtighten or strip.

The SlabShield 35pt Magnetic Card Case measures 73 × 110 × 7 mm outside with a 64 × 89.5 mm internal cavity, and the acrylic is UV-protective, acid-free and non-PVC with diamond-cut corners so it stands square on a shelf.

What 35pt means, and what fits

The number is the part worth understanding. “Pt” means point, one thousandth of an inch, so 35pt is 0.89 mm — the thickest card the holder will take. A standard modern card from Pokémon, Lorcana, One Piece, Magic or a sports base set runs about 12pt, roughly 0.3 mm, so it sits inside with room to spare, and still fits inside a penny sleeve. What will not fit is genuinely thick stock: patch, relic, jersey and memorabilia cards run 55pt to 130pt and need a holder rated for it.

Magnetic holder or MagSafe holder?

Two different things share the word magnetic. A magnetic card holder is the acrylic one-touch on this page — the magnets hold the two halves of the case together around the card. A MagSafe card holder is the Slab Mag, which sticks a card to the back of a phone. If you want the card protected on a shelf, you want this page. If you want to carry one card on your phone, you want the Slab Mag.

Sleeve first, then holder

Penny sleeves stop surface scratches; the holder handles edges, corners and UV. Already graded? See Slab Cases instead.

Once a card is in a holder it is worth knowing what you have. You can catalogue it free in the SlabShield Vault and track what it is worth — Pokémon, Lorcana, One Piece and Magic sets are all in there.
